Honduras Missions – Shopping Spree

Honduras Missions – Shopping Spree

I think everyone would like to go on a Shopping Spree that you wouldn’t have to pay for anything. I surely, would. A group, from PA, came down and set up a clothing store for the people in Monquecagua and they could pick out clothing without paying for it. There was clothing of all sizes, including underwear and socks.

Underwear and socks are a luxury, not a necessity as I had talked about here. We opened the doors and left in a few at a time, piled clothing into their arms, and took in all the smiles. We had shoes, jackets, and raincoats. We had something for everyone.

After an hour of helping them shop, we opened the doors and left everyone come in at once. We wanted to keep order, so we did ask them to keep order and was surprised that they did fairly well. When you’re in dire need of clothing and don’t have money, you would charge in and try to get everything that you could. It would probably be in an unorderly fashion. They all received something and were all satisfied.

They may have felt extremely, blessed but I think that we were more blessed than them. When we hold shopping sprees, it gives us an adrenalin rush. We try to give them the best and nicest. I get more excited than they do when I find a really nice outfit for them.

We may have met by chance…but we become friends by choice.

  1. Hi! I found you through a comment you left. My Husband and I were missionaries to Thailand for 3 years so I understand. Thanks for your sacrifice and faith. God Bless, Clair

    • It’s great to meet another fellow missionary. That must have been a wonderful experience to be part of God’s work there and so far away.
