My Grandbaby’s Crocheted Blanket
This is a different post for me. I like to crochet, but I’m not an expert. When my babies came into this world and now, my grandbabies, I always, crochet them a blanket. A blanket of love, of course. You see, below, is My Grandbaby’s Crocheted Blanket that I crocheted for McKenna, who arrived September 2012.
And you must see who this blanket is for. Since, this is MY blog, I can post all the pictures of my grandbabies that I want to post. Just kidding. Don’t leave yet, I’m only going to post one photo. But isn’t she soooooo cute?
The stitch is Front and Back Loop HDC.
I used five – 6 to 8 oz. skeins of different colors for this blanket. It’s a multiple of 2 + 1 chain. I used a “J” size hook.
Row 1: (right side) Hdc in third ch from hook and in each ch across: 25 hdc (so you can make it as wide as you want) Mine was 135 chains.
Note: Loop a short piece of yarn around any stitch to mark last row as right side.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn: hdc in Back Loop Only of first hdc, *hdc in Front Loop Only of next hdc, hdc in Back Loop Only of next hdc: repeat from * across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures the size you want.
Then work an edging that you want. I just worked some shell or puff stitches around the whole blanket.
Being down here, in Honduras for much of the year, I miss my family and, especially, my grandbabies. So,when I’m making My Grandbaby’s Crocheted Blanket, every stitch was with anticipation of her coming and crocheted with love.
We may have met by chance…but we become friends by choice.
Here are some crocheting needles if you don’t have any, at Amazon, below.
